Edith Louise Hendricks

August 2, 1956 – February 4, 2021

Edith Louise Hendricks, 64, passed February 4, 2021 peacefully in the comfort of her home with her family by her side. Edith passed away after a courageous thirteen year battle to Metastatic Neuroendocrine Cancer.

Edith was born August 2, 1956 in Washington, D.C., to Fred and Jean Waller, and was raised in Arlington, Virginia. At age 21 she married the love of her life, Steven Hendricks. Together they built a life and brought two children into the world, Kory and Rachel Hendricks, who were her everything.

Edith was known for the light and joy she brought into any room she walked into. She was considered by many an angel on earth, and now she watches over us as an angel from heaven. She only spoke positive words and always wore a smile on her face, bringing laughter to any situation.

Edith dedicated her life to her faith, serving as a deacon at Ashburn Presbyterian Church and a prayer warrior to the entire community. She started every morning with scripture and prayer and wrote in her journal sharing evidence of God in her life. She was a light of God that will be missed by so many.

She worked for Loudoun County Public Schools for 27 years, proudly representing as a Golden Dolphin at Ashburn Elementary for 25 years. She was a loved teacher by many and was known for her laughter, joy and love of glitter.  She positively influenced decades of children in the Ashburn community.

Outside of church and teaching, she loved family gatherings, especially yearly summer vacations at Smith Mountain Lake. She enjoyed spending time with friends, reading, fresh flowers, chocolate cake, and weekly trips to local thrift stores hunting for treasures. She also had an artistic side to her, from her Father, and enjoyed family crafting, coloring, and refurbishing furniture.

Due to COVID-19 safety compliance, there will be a small service for immediate family only. There are future plans for a Celebration of Life when COVID restrictions have lifted in the next year or two. Please check back on this page for more information next year.
