Obituary of Frank Anthony Macina

Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Frank Anthony Macina, age 66, died peacefully on Friday, February 12th, 2021 in his home in Reston, VA after a courageous battle with cancer.

Frank was born on September 20th, 1954 in Queens, New York to Amelia and Anthony Macina. He graduated from Xavier High School and St. John's University with a degree in business. Frank had recently retired after a successful career as the Senior Vice President Account Director for Davis Elen. Prior to his death, Frank worked within the advertising community for 45 years. In 1988, Frank was happily married to Christine Hanke who was his partner in life for almost 33 years at the time of his death.

Frank is survived by his wife, Christine (Hanke) Macina; his two children, Taylor Macina and Nicholas Macina; his one grandchild, Damian Adams; his one brother, Donald Macina; his godchild, Leah (Hanke) Robinette; his nieces, Deborah (Macina) Weitz and Diane (Macina) Schleifman; and many cousins. Frank is preceded in death by his mother, Amelia Rose (Barbarito) Macina, and his father, Anthony John Macina.

Frank was a family man through and through. He had a passion for traveling and enjoyed sharing his adventures with his family through the years. He had a love of watching sports and conversing with friends about games. He was an avid New York Giants, New York Yankees, and New York Rangers fan. Frank had a bright, energetic, and boisterous personality that was sure to light up any room he walked into. He was known for always being willing and able to lend a helping hand or an eager ear to anyone when people needed his help. He touched many lives with his generosity and his passion for his life and his family.

Due to COVID restrictions, which unfortunately limit the number of guests who can attend an outside gathering, we are changing the date from Monday, June 14th to a later date this summer. We are hopeful by extending the date of the celebration, this may allow us to have more guests in attendance. With this in mind, additional information about Frank's Celebration of Life will follow by invitation only. Frank was sincerely loved by so many people and we sincerely apologize for this change, however, we just do not know how many people the governor will allow at outdoor events at this time. We are hopeful to include a live streamed zoom for those who wish to pay their respects, but are unable to attend in person.
