Linda Washington-Robinson departed this life on February 22nd, 2021 in her Herndon, Virginia home. Linda fought a good fight for many years. She never stumbled through her illness because she knew that God was with her all the way.
Linda was born on March 13, 1953, in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Henry Washington and Ernestine (Payne) Washington. Linda graduated from Northwestern High School in Flint, Michigan, class of 1971. During high school Linda became an avid sports fan and remained one throughout her life.
Linda accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined the Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Flint, Michigan at the age of age of 13. She loved the Lord and knew that she never would have made it without Him. Through her life Linda remained enthusiastically involved in many and various church activities at Shiloh Baptist Church of McLean, Virginia where she was a Trustee for 14 years.
After graduation from Michigan State University in East Lansing, and graduate school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Linda moved back to Lansing, and worked for the state of Michigan Bureau of Tourism until 1989. While working for the Bureau Linda and her team developed and implemented the highly successful “Say Yes!, to Michigan” and “Yes! Michigan” campaigns. While in Lansing, Linda married Dwight Robinson in October 1978, and in 1989 their son, Noah, was born. A career opportunity brought them to Herndon, Virginia in 1991, and it’s been home ever since. Upon arriving in Herndon, Linda decided to be a full time stay at home mom.
Linda is also a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She has held several official positions in numerous non-profit organizations and was very active in a variety of charitable activities including leadership position on the board of PHILLIPS Programs.
Linda was pre-deceased by her parents, Henry and Ernestine Washington. She leaves to cherish her precious memory husband, Dwight Robinson; son, Noah Robinson; brother, Ray (Patrice) Washington; uncle, Johnny Payne; aunts, Shirl (Payne) Davis, Della (Payne) Horton, Dorothy “Dot” (Payne) Blake; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins, and other extended family members.
