I knew Kathleen (or KB as I called her) for a long time as an attorney. She was always interesting, helpful and friendly. I learned a lot from her. It was always entertaining watching her handle a client who was being particularly difficult, whether in the courthouse hallways, the jail, or the courtroom. She always had a story to tell. She will be missed.

I met Kathy 18 years ago in Fairfax. She always had time to chat when we bumped into each other at the courthouse and she always made me laugh. I was so sorry to hear of her passing. Your family and Kathy are in my thoughts and prayers. She will be missed and she will be remembered.

We are so sorry to learn of Kathy's passing. She was a wonderful and dedicated attorney, a fixture in the courthouse for decades. She shared her knowledge with many junior lawyers, and always advocated diligently for her clients. Because of the pandemic we cannot come to the visitation, but know your family remains in our thoughts and prayers. Cheryl Gardner and David Bernhard

I met Kathy soon after I hung out my shingle straight out of law school thirty-seven years ago and she was always so generous with her time and her knowledge helping a newbie get started. She was always delightful to talk to, even when one of us started the conversation with "let me run one of my cases by you," so whenever I saw her heading my way, I started smiling right away. Her passing is a professional loss to the Northern Virginia legal community as a whole, and a personal loss to those of us who had the pleasure of knowing her individually. I wish her the peace she so richly deserves for a life well-lived and I send her family my deepest sympathy for their loss of such a bright star.

I met Kathleen about 30 years ago. She never seemed to age -- always steady and reliable. Kathleen was a fierce advocate for her clients, never shying away from demanding or difficult cases. She made such a difference in the lives of many vulnerable people. She never missed the opportunity to share a story or a joke. Kathleen was so proud of her family and openly shared how much she loved and appreciated you. She will be missed by many. Crystal Meleen

I have known Kathleen for over 20 years and cannot believe she is gone. She was larger than life and deeply cared for her clients. For years, when she would pass me in the courthouse hallways, she would stop, turn, and dramatically say, "Love of my life. Light of my horizon." Always in good humor, always ready to do what was best for her clients, always a joy to work with. I will miss her very much.

My grandma was the most wonderful person I ever knew. My favorite memories of her are all the lunches my mom and I would spend with her at Red Hot & Blue. She'd always have an interesting story to tell, or share a funny word-of-the-day, or discuss the latest mystery book she's been reading. We would often exchange random gifts with each other, and her gifts were always the most thoughtful ones I'd ever received. I still have the incredible halloween candles she gave me last October, because they are too beautiful to light. Whenever I do choose to finally light them, I will no doubt be reminded of her endless thoughtfulness.
