Dear family members:
Please accept my deep condolences! Kishan will be remembered for his visionary guidance and his attention to detail. I would have never thought that our annual reports get reviewed at NSF in-depth until he sent me a kind note 2 years ago "Naira: Excellent progress on research. In the next annual report expand on broader impact activities you and your team are involved in.
Kishan". He was aware of our outreach activities, which I missed reporting on in the annual report, keeping the focus on the technical developments. I was deeply touched to see that my report was read, appreciated, and actually I was asked to report more details. His care for our research and his deep understanding of it meant a lot to me. I will always remember him for his kind words, and for the compliments that he generously shared every time after my annual presentations at the PIs review meetings.

Funny, inspiring, charming, helpful, and generous. I will miss him and thank him for all of his contributions.

To all, my condolences for your loss of Kishan. He was an amazing man and immediately started mentoring me when I started working at NSF as I worked between mathematics and connected with engineering. He was always so excited about the projects he was handling and developing. I worked with him on proposals that were of common interest to both of our programs. Kishan was even present at my wedding. He and my husband, Subbarao, connected, not only because they were both originally from India, but because both loved to run. I will miss Kishan very much.

From Kathuria Family
We feel honored to be associated with Bahetis as a family since 2006 when our son Sandeep and their daughter Sheela got married.
Kishan ji was a living example personifying love all / support others / bond with all - a very noble and great soul gifted with all the qualities of head and heart.
‘I never had such a caring friend before ever. I consider him as my brother. He and Padma came several times to see me when I was at rehab.
He was never in a rush and wanted to take time to see what he can do to make the situation better..’ (Manbir)

Kishan was a remarkable leader, advisor, mentor, sponsor and dear friend to our family. The true founder of the control outreach program and strongest supporter for women in control. Kishan was passionate about education. He was the founder of the First NSF Workshop for High School Teachers to bring awareness to the importance, beauty and excitement of control, a field that spans science, technology, engineering and mathematics. His generosity in giving back to the control community is unparalleled. Kishan will be missed . He will be always in our thoughts and hearts.

Very saddened to hear about the shocking, premature passing of Baheti uncle
My first encounter with him was in mid 1980s , when I had written to him to ask for advise on getting admission to an American university for my masters.
Baheti uncle promptly took me under his wings and in fact, he actually himself secured me admission at a university in upstate New York! He even offered that I could stay with his family!
When he visited my home in Bangalore, he looked over all my paperwork and advised me.
I can never forget his kindness and the encouragement I received from him, to come to America as a single, young girl!!
I remain inspired by his generous, progressive and kind character
My heart goes out to his entire family for this profound loss
May his soul rest in peace!

My heart goes out to you on the loss of your dear husband, father, and grandfather. Kishan was one of my favorite running buddies, always so warm and encouraging. It was wonderful to meet Padma and crew JFK50 with her the year Kishan ran that challenging race. Kishan was the most joyful participant on the course. I will miss his big smile and equally big heart.

Our deepest condolences to the family and many friends of Kishan. I consider myself fortunate to be able to include myself among his many many Reston Runner friends including the ones who shared the Boston experience with him. Kishan was always a friendly encouraging face with an indomitable spirit you looked forward to seeing during a run and at social time after a run. His physical presence will be missed but his spirit will remain with us going forward.
In the words of a song (by Carrie Newcomer), There's a gathering of spirits and a festival of friends and we'll take up where we left off, when we all meet again.

We have known Bahetis for almost 45 years. Dr. Baheti, popularly known as Kishan, was a GEM of a person. Both Padma & Kishan were very close and family to us. Kishan was a great scholar as is reflected by his professional achievements, a thorough gentleman, who was humble and very polite, and a great host. Kishan has left a deep void in our lives that would stay forever.
Our deepest sympathy and condolences to the Baheti family.

One of the most thorough gentleman that I encountered in my life. On two random occasions, had the greatest privilege to ride Metro with him to only be enlightened about life and the journey one takes. My only regret is to not ask that these encounters be a permanent feature of our lives. May you rest in peace and thank you for brightening my life. I will miss you and I am sure hundreds across the Nation, which you served so well will miss you.

I send my deepest condolences to the family. I worked with Kisan for many years as admin support for a program in another office and he made working with him so delightful. He always, at every panel that we had, encouraged the admin team by telling the panelist how great we were and how much he enjoyed working with us. That always made us feel very appreciated. I would be remiss not to mention how he inspired me to workout and take time for my health and well being. He will truly truly be missed.

I would like to share my deepest condolences to Kishan's family. Kishan was very influential in my career development, co-funding my NSF CAREER award long time ago. Over the past twenty years, as I got to know him better, I was impressed with the deep and genuine care he had for communities, whether that was the control systems community, the cyberphysical systems community, the electrical and computer engineering community. Kishan was always brining people together, recognizing excellent, strategizing about the future and caring about everyone (particularly junior researchers) were some of the amazing qualities that made Kishan special. He will be missed.
