VINCENT EDWARD “NED” HERMES, 39, of Kearneysville, WV, passed away on April 3, 2021, in Stroudsburg, PA.

Ned was born in Washington, DC, on December 7, 1981, to Brian and Leslie Hermes. He is survived by his children Braydon Pierce, Kierstin Winter, and Cameron Vincent Hermes; father and stepmother Brian and Cindy Hermes; mother Leslie Matzinger Dietz; sisters Melissa Hermes and Dera Dietz; grandmother Louise Matzinger-Vought (Kimber); aunts Hilary Matzinger (Gary) and Kristin Lenderking (Howard); uncles Ezra Matzinger (Martha) and Steven Hermes (Marie); niece Emma Dietz; and nephew Lucas Roa. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Walter and Esther Hermes, and his maternal grandfather, Norbert Jay Matzinger, M.D.

Although they were divorced, Ned remained close to his ex-wife and mother of his children, Cari Nowell; her siblings; her mother and stepfather Jennifer and Tim Compton; and her uncle Rick Nowell.

After Ned and Cari divorced, he started dating a friend he had known years earlier, Angela Tabor. They built a life together for 7 years and, in time, were engaged to be married. Sadly, that relationship ended, but Ned continued to stay in contact with Angela up until his last day.

Ned always greeted you with a bear hug and never hung up the phone without saying “I love you.” His smile and laughter would light up a room.

He was an excellent cook and was always eager to barbeque on his multiple grills. He loved watching football and rooting for his favorite team, the Baltimore Ravens. He also enjoyed rooting against the New England Patriots. He was an avid poker player and enjoyed working out, playing Call of Duty, and riding his bike.

Ned was loved by so many people. We will cherish the happy times and carry him in our hearts forever.
