Obituary of Ruby Elizabeth Bowers

Ruby Bowers, 86, of Herndon, VA, passed away on Monday, 26 April, 2021. 

Born on September 20th, 1934 in Herndon, she was the daughter of the late Isabell Kidwell Plotner and Clarence Kidwell.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Kidwell.

Ruby graduated from Herndon High School in 1953, the same year she married her husband of 67 years, “Bob” Bowers. She worked at Safeway for 36 years. Ruby was known for her infectious laugh and sense of humor. A woman of many interests, Ruby loved spending time with her family, especially with her great-granddaughter, LeeAnn. Watching the Washington Nationals win the World Series in 2019 and playing her organ were a few of her joys. She will be greatly missed.  

She is survived by: her husband, “Bob” Bowers; her son “Bobby” Bowers (Cathy); her granddaughters Stephanie (Jared) and Samantha; her brother Ray Kidwell (Virginia) and sister Mary Thompson.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Adams-Green Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, May 3, 2021. Burial will follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery.   

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The First Baptist Church of Herndon.
