Edsil Ray “Butchie” Sams Jr. was born in Bath County VA to Lucille and Edsil Ray Sams Sr. on December 21, 1947. He joined the U.S. Army in 1968 and served proudly until his retirement as a SGT First Class in 1988.
Edsil Ray “Butchie” Sams Jr. is survived by his daughter Elizabeth “Annie” Euson and her spouse John Euson of Bunker Hill WV, grand children; Brittney Clay, Mavrick Clay, and Zachary Clay, great grand child Riley Stevens, Sisters; Dinah Mae Johnson, Norma Burress, Sarah Plank, and Tammy Reeble.
Brothers; Delbert Sames, and Terry Sams.
He was preceded in death by his mother; Lucille Sams, father; Edsil Ray Sams Sr., wife; Ok Pok Sams, brothers; William “Bill” Sams, Bobby Sams, two twin brothers, and a sister; Katherine “Sissy” Sams
