Obituary of Rodney John Ramsey

Rodney Ramsey, beloved and devoted partner, son, brother, and friend died peacefully on Monday, May 10, 2021 after a short illness.  He was 59 years old.  He spent his final days with his partner Teresa Presswood being by his side.  

In addition to his parents Dora and John Ramsey of Chesapeake, VA, he is survived by his sister, Lisa Ramsey of Chesapeake, VA.  He also leaves behind Teresa’s siblings, Mary and Jeff Jones of Derry, NH, Keith and Denise Presswood of South Dennis, MA, Lloyd and Lynn Presswood of Medway, MA, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.  

A native of Chesapeake, VA, Rodney attended Old Dominion University and graduated with a degree in Computer Science.  After college, Rodney moved to the Northern Virginia area.  He was a resident of Reston, VA for the past 30 years. He enjoyed working at Noblis, Freddie Mac, Mantas, Solers and Oracle serving as an Systems Engineer.   He often spoke fondly of his co-workers.

Besides spending time with family and friends, Rodney had a passion for travel, attending sports events as season ticket holder for the Washington Nationals (Go Nats!), and caring for his cherished cats Pluto and Jane. 

He had a bright and energetic smile.  Rodney will be missed for his kind heart, generosity, charisma, brilliant sense of humor and quick wit.
