Obituary of Judith Ann Rothlisberger

Please share a memory of Judith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Judy Rothlisberger passed away May 13, 2021 in Loudoun County, Virginia.

Judy was born to John and Grace Bertch on May 10, 1940 in Rochester, NY.  She grew up in Huntsville, TX, and enrolled in Oklahoma State where she met her future husband, Chuck.  She graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and they were married shortly after.  Chuck served in the Army, providing them an opportunity to travel the world before settling in the Northern Virginia area.

Judy raised their two daughters while helping to support the family by teaching Middle School Science and English as a Second Language, serving as an office manager at an orthodontist office, and running her own business as an antiques dealer specializing in antique linen restoration.  She and Chuck shared a passion for antiquing and attending estate auctions. The friendships they made throughout their lives, spanning from Oklahoma State to Falcons Landing Retirement Community in Sterling, VA, held a very special place in their hearts.

Judy is predeceased by her husband, Chuck, and is survived by her daughters, Carol Lyn Wishnow and Lori Jeanne Cross (Nathaniel Lee Cross); her four grandchildren, Nicholas Dean Bradshaw (Rachel McDonnell Bradshaw), Rebecca Cross Freeman (John Andrew Freeman), Samantha Grace Wishnow, and Ryan Wiley Cross; and her two great grandchildren, Kaylee Grace Bradshaw and Brooks Mark Freeman.  Judy is also survived by her two sisters, Barbara Hester (Roger) of Georgia and Sue Mullis (Jim) of Texas; her two sisters-in-law Carla Deutsch (Phill) of Virginia and Nancy Long (Larry) of Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

Judy lived her life dedicated to loving her family.  She loved hosting summer vacations at the beach in Ocean City, Maryland, never missed an opportunity to cheer loudly at sporting events or performances, and always fought to attend milestone life-events including meeting and holding her great-grandchildren who she adored.  She will be greatly missed, but set an incredible example for future generations and will be remembered by all with love.

A celebration of life and burial at Arlington National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
