Obituary of Ronald Anthony Panaggio

Ronald Anthony Panaggio, Sr., 84, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from complications of Lewy body dementia.

 

He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Vivian; son, Ronald Anthony Panaggio, Jr. and wife Melissa; daughters, Lisa Sechler and husband James, Suzette Thomas and husband Andrew, and Nancy Panaggio.  He had 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

 

Born in Newport, RI, Ron married his high school sweetheart, Vivian Wright, in 1958.  They eventually made their way to Chantilly, VA where they raised their four children.  Ron worked as a manager in finance and accounting in both the private and public sector throughout his career.

 

An avid consumer of news and politics, he could often be found behind the pages of his beloved newspaper.  He loved and passionately followed college basketball.

 

Ron was proud of his Italian-American heritage and had the opportunity to travel to his homeland to connect with his extended family.

 

Ron and Vivian traveled much of the eastern United States as dedicated members of the Friends of Lafayette of which he also briefly served as secretary.

 

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 21 at 11:00 am at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Ashburn, VA.  Interment will follow immediately at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon, VA . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
