Peter was more than family to me. His demeanor was always calm, cool and collective.
I can remember a time when events in our lives were painting the darkest reflection of me
before the entire family as I entered the house. Peter welcomed me extended arm forward
as he said, Geno come, sit with me.
It was his presence that was so open and welcoming. It was at this moment that bonded the
family together as one again. Peter spoke from his heart about the travels and hardship
of his brother and sisters but at the end of the day regardless of how angry, sad or
separated anyone of had been they would now function as one.
He explained to me family is the key ingredient to happiness. We all sat around this
table and the faces which greeted me without smiles at the door had all changed as the
words spoken in Laos silenced the room and all at the table had changed. At this moment
we were all as one. It was at that moment I knew in my heart Peter was more than just a
Brother-in-law he was a man who extended his love and it is that moment in time which
remains unchanged in my mind as I continue to share the love with the family guided that
me though some of the hardest moments of my history. Peter was a man who raised his
brothers and sister as a father long before he became a father. I am more than certain in
his heart he was sort of rising me too at the same time. Peter Kingkeo, I solute you, as
a brother and a true friend.
