I'm so sorry to hear of Patrick's passing. He was an exemplary man, a loving father, and a devoted dad... but then no one knew that better than his beloved family. I'm so glad he and I reconnected over the past 2 years. He was a friend to look up to and I will miss him.

This morning I was reading past messages to me from members of Zoetrope, and came across Patrick's excellent answer in response to a question I had asked him. Decided to search for him online and catch up on our screenwriting pursuits. Learning of his passing shocked and saddened me greatly. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I first met Pat I think in the early 2000s when his cousin Luis Ugaz put together a team to participate in the 48 Hour Film Competition in DC. The goal was to write, shoot, and edit a movie in one weekend around a genre and prop, only revealed that weekend. We all had various roles in front of and behind the camera. I remember Pat pointing out a few times my attention to detail of ensure filming continuity. I was super grateful for the acknowledgment - half the time, I did not know what I was doing. But I remember thinking "oh cool, I impressed Pat". He appreciated hard work, and he made me feel like a valuable team member.
We all worked together to make the best mediocre film that weekend. I ran into him a few other times since then, and he always fondly remembered me and my contribution to that film project.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends. May warm memories of him help ease your grief.

Sara, Maria, Angie, and Susan. I honestly don't know what to say. Pat meant the world to me and his friendship is one I cherished most in this life. From our regular KFC trips (usually preceded by a text saying "The Colonel Calls Us"!), making music together, to all he did - and tried to do - during the awful time from 2012 to 2016. I will never forget (and sadly never repaid) his generosity in time, spirit, and sometimes just being an ear to let me vent. I was blessed to know all of you and to be able to call you family for too brief a time. He and I stayed in touch these last months and I'm thankful we got to share a few laughs and talk about the music we love and the songs we recorded. I will always think of him fondly, playing "The Piano Man" at Via's house, a 12-string guitar we never got into tune and making the short film together, and I don't think I'll ever hear Elton again without him on my mind. I love him like a brother and always will. Please know you're all in my thoughts and if there's anything you need, there isn't an hour you can't reach out.
