Obituary of James Lee Ridgeway

James “Jim” Lee Ridgeway, 78, of Sterling VA, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2021 surrounded by his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.  Jim was born on March 11, 1943 in Prince William County, VA. He married his one true love Sheila Ridgeway and had three children, James Lee, James Allen and Angela Nicole.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Shelia Ridgeway, sons, James Lee Ridgeway Jr. and James Allen Ridgeway. His parents, John G. Ridgeway and Elsie L. Ridgeway, his brothers, John G. Ridgeway Jr., and Floyd R. Ridgeway, as well as his sister, Francis M. Poole. 

He is survived by his daughter Angela “Angie” Roberts, husband Lonnie, daughter-in-law, Tabitha Ridgeway, grandchildren, Dwayne Corum, Chelsea Corum, Gabrielle “Gaby” Corum, Hanna Corum, Jacob Corum, Wesley Ridgeway and Skylar Ridgeway, and one great granddaughter, Oakley Ridgeway.  His sisters, Mary Ridgeway, Barbara Batista, and Darlene Shifflet (husband, Keith), and sister-in-law, Neva Ridgeway. Along with his brothers, George Ridgeway, Wayne Ridgeway, and Daniel Ridgeway. And a very special niece that he helped raise, Yetta Mullins (husband Curtis Mullins), along with a host of nephews and nieces. 

Jim lived in Sterling, VA with his daughter Angie, son-in-law, Lonnie and their children/his grandchildren.  He was retired from the Town of Herndon, after being a dedicated employee of the water crew for 25 years.  But his true passion and love was for his family, friends and those who became family, even if not by blood. He had so much love to give he became a PawPaw to so many.  His joyous nature and love was evident to all that knew him and will be forever missed.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, July 6^th at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St., Herndon.  Visitation will be from 9:00am-10:00am, directly before the funeral service; which will begin at 10:00am. The interment will follow at Sterling Cemetery, 45835 W. Church St., Sterling.  Upon conclusion of services, family and friends are welcome to gather for fellowship at Angie’s house.
