Obituary of Donald Lynn Rounsley

Please share a memory of Donald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Donald L. Rounsley passed away on July 6, 2021 at the age of 75. Born March 23, 1946, Don was the son of Edgar S. Rounsley and Mary E. Rounsley. In 1966, he married Dorothy Lee Moser, whom he described as his life-long best friend. Together, they moved to Sterling Park, Virginia in 1973, where they raised their two children, Timothy A. Rounsley and Jeffrey A. Rounsley.

In 1968, Don joined the United States Navy, serving on the USS Forrest Sherman, and later in Naval Security in Winter Harbor, Maine. Following his time in the Navy, Don worked for C&P Telephone Company, where he rose into management positions throughout his long career, and made many lifelong friends.

In life, he loved to restore antique cars, tend to his yard, and tackle home improvement projects in his own home, and in the homes of those he loved, but most of all, he loved and cherished his family. A devoted son, caring husband, proud father, and adoring grandfather, he is survived by his sister, Joyce Barrett, and brother, Edgar Rounsley, his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Rounsley, his son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Kelly Rounsley, his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Andrea Rounsley, and his grandchildren: Emily Rounsley, Caden Rounsley, Parker Rounsley, and Owen Rounsley.

Contributions in memory of Don may be made to the American Red Cross

Funeral arrangements will be private.
