Obituary of Fran Brocke

Frances G. Brocke, “Franny”, 90, of Ashburn, VA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 14, 2021 in her home.

Franny was born on February 11, 1931 in Wilmington Delaware the daughter of the late James F. Langan and the late Mary T. Gallagher.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Maryann Coffin; and her loving husband of 60 years, Ed Brocke.  Franny is survived by her sister, Teresa Greegs of Wilmington, DE, her five children; Tom - spouse Fern, Tim, Terry, Kathy, Colleen - her spouse Joe. Her ten grandchildren; Kyle – his spouse Lauren, Kristin – her spouse Kyle, Trey – his spouse Jen, Tyler, Travis, Tanner, Sean, Evan, Conner, and Corey. Her five great grandchildren; Arlan, Saylah, Ella, Emmie, and Tatum.  

Anyone who met Franny instantly understood her love for all things Irish, especially her drink of choice, Irish Mist. To love her was to love her Irish pride, and her witty sense of humor. If not spending time with her Brocke Clan you could find Franny at the local Irish pub, leading all patrons in a friendly rendition of the song, The Unicorn.  You could always count on Franny and Ed for their spectacular Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day decorations, only to be outdone by the following years creation.

Franny and Ed were active, founding members of the Sterling community. You could always find them cheering at any number of local sporting events. Prior to their move to Sterling, Ed and Franny experienced several moves as Ed was an active member of the United States Air Force. Their dedication to the Sterling community could be seen in their involvement with local sports leagues, time spent at the Sterling Recreation Center, and simply just sitting on their front porch on Church Road.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00PM and from 6:00-8:00PM on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St. Herndon, VA.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 750 Peachtree Street, Herndon, VA. Interment will follow at the Sterling Cemetery on West Church Rd (left side of the road, headed west) Sterling, VA.

Franny’s Celebration of Life will continue at the Loudoun Elks Lodge (401 West Holly Ave. Sterling, VA), following the interment at Sterling Cemetery.
