Todd, Jean and Family,
I wanted to reflect on Rosemary"s passing for a couple of very different reasons. First and most importantly, she was the last of the six high school parents that Todd, Tom and I knew the best in our Arlington days. Always warm, expressive and so even-keeled....all qualities I really admire to this day. Second, she was so important to my two girls without ever knowing them. Both of them played high school sports and remain interested in fitness and health. This invaluable part of their lives would simply have not been possible without pioneers like Rosemary who sent such empowering messages to girls about athletics and physical fitness. It took a couple of generations to fully take hold but my girls and so many like them are forever indebted to Rosemary and others that carried that flag. I am really glad I was able to tell her this in person on that hot hot afternoon at Jean and Todds beautiful wedding about a decade ago.
May her memory be a blessing.
Glen Schneider

It is hard to describe the hole you left in my heart. All I have to say is that you were the grandmother I always imagine about having. You carried the title of grandmother high. When we first met (when Wright brought me to the house), we clicked in an unbelievable way. We shared the same favorite color(purple), love for lavender, passion for teaching, love for pumpkin, and soap operas. I even went to GW. Our stories and experiences inspired me to be a better wife, mother, teacher, and human being. Every time I saw you, we laughed. We even took selfies and you had to approve the pictures to keep and delete.
When Dylan was born, we instilled in him love and respect for his, Gigi. Today, he asked where you were. I told him you were with us, that you are his guardian angel. Dylan's response was, "Mama, Gigi con Diosito." He knows you are with God. He knows you are with us/him.
My dear grandma, you knew that ever since I moved to the US, I did not like the holidays. But, you gave holidays a different meaning. I got to love them again.
I know some day, we will see each other again. We will eat pumpkin pie and laugh.
I love you so so much. Thank you for loving me and being the grandma of my dreams.

"Gigi," as Dylan called her, gave the warmest hugs and loved her little boy. Dylan enjoyed feeding Gigi blackberries, playing with her bunny, and giving her a lot of hugs. The connection and love they had will stay in Dylan's heart forever. Every day on our way home from daycare, he asks for his Gigi, his sweet guardian angel.

This is Rosemary's grandson, Livingston. I have put together a collection of photos of her over the years and loaded it into Google Drive at the link below which should be viewable by everyone. It doesn't show as a hyperlink to click on so you will have to cut and paste the address into your browser. Or you can just email me at stowaway8@gmail.com and I will personally send you the link to click on.

Dan, Todd and Jean took Rosemary and Jean's mother (Jean Offutt) to see the Cherry Blossoms on the Tidal Basin in Washington DC in 2011. The Cherry Blossoms were early that year, in March, and everyone was caught off-guard by cold, windy weather. Rosemary kept warm with Todd's gloves serving as ear muffs. It was a memorable afternoon out, that everyone from both families reminisce about to this day.

There aren't too many people about who I could say they made a true difference in my life but Rosemary Lewis was definitely one of those people. She was a pillar of strength to middle schoolers as they traveled the most awkward years of transition to adulthood. Always kind while also setting high expectations, Mrs Lewis was truly amazing. We will all miss her but remain confident that we will meet again at the heavenly banquet.

Roses was my grandmother in every sense of the word but DNA. She bought me my first big wheel, she watched me after school, she wrote me cards and letters and hosted my bridal shower. I loved her dearly and will miss her fiercely. Her laugh was infectious and her eyes always sparkled. I am forever greatful and honored to have known her and be loved by her. See you again someday, Roses. Love you.
