Obituary of Amanda Caitlin Piro

Amanda Caitlin Piro passed away unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon, July 25, 2021, in Reston, VA.  A long-term resident of Great Falls, VA, she was born in South Bend, IN, and briefly resided in Northbrook, IL.  She was the younger of two children of Ernest J. Piro III and Deborah J. Georgetti-Piro.  She was a graduate of Stone Ridge School in Bethesda, and a college student at Christopher Newport University. 

Amanda was highly adept in both her school studies and sports activities.  She had a passion for science (majoring in molecular biology) and a love for art.  In her youth, she excelled in track & field, soccer, basketball, and softball. Amanda attended Mass weekly and volunteered her free time in various activities.  She enjoyed interning at a local hospital as a high school senior.  While in school, she also enjoyed several part-time jobs working with animals.  She was a wonderful and integral family member.  In death, she was a willing organ donor.

Amanda is survived by her father; sister, Abigail Piro; paternal grandparents, Ernest and Mary Piro; uncle and aunt, Nevin and Kathleen Okay; aunt, Michele Georgetti; uncle, Brian Georgetti and his fiancée Kim Sohn; first cousins, Rudy Georgetti, Ryan Georgetti, and Nicholas Okay, and numerous other relatives.  She was preceded in death by her mother in 2018, maternal grandmother, Jennie Georgetti, in 2018, maternal grandfather, Rudolph Georgetti, in 2015, and uncle, Rudolph Georgetti, in 2015.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 between 5-8 PM and then again on Thursday, August 5, 2021 between 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Adams Green Funeral Home.  A Catholic Mass will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Great Falls with Father Jerry Pokorsky officiating.  Burial to follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon.
