So sad to hear of Greg’s passing. I have always appreciated his wide-ranging interests, his enthusiasm, and his passionate caring for everything and everyone. I enjoyed the times we spent talking, and will miss the opportunity to spend more. In one conversation I recall fondly reminiscing about an obscure science fiction/fantasy book I had read in the 1970’s, and was amazed that he not only knew of the book but also remembered the title, and then pulled out a copy from his library!
My heart goes out to everyone in the family. His passing leaves a void, but I will treasure his memory as someone very special.

My brother was a kindhearted person who was so blessed to have met his wonderful wife Debbie. He loved his children and grandchildren so very much. He took great pride in his career as a lawyer and helped many people during his his long service as a defense attorney. His fascination with our Irish family enlightened us and connected us to our ancestors many who were interesting, artistic, brilliant and funny. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed listening to people’s life stories. His love of the Irish people and his deep connection to Ireland brought joy to the many folks he met there. He truly felt at home in Ireland. Sending love to his family and to Debbie.

Dear Greg,
We remember the day we met you, before you were married to Debbie (my best friend from high school), and before you became an institution in our lives. You strongly believed in following your curiosity which led you to attain your impressive education. Your ability to absorb knowledge and generously give it to others was the gift of a natural teacher. But, we didn’t know anything about you that first day. As we listened to you we could see the glow of love in Debbie’s face and her pride in your ability to communicate the fine nuances of complex issues. Debbie fell in love with you the man as well as you the professor.
When you married Debbie, we were there to cheer you at the beginning of your new life with each other. As time passed we got to know you and we proudly called you our friend. Through all of your physical challenges you never lost your deep love for Debbie or your dedication to a life of learning.
While reading your obituary, we were again awed by your accomplishments. As a lawyer, professor, carpenter, programmer, mentor or patient you never gave up on your caring love for your family and friends (and your beautiful sweet Agatha). We will miss you our encyclopedic professor friend.
Thank you for being in our lives.

Since Gregory was a bit older than I, I do not have memories of him as a child. However, I do remember him as a young man who would often visit us at our home in the Bronx as well as at our summer home in Breezy Point. Gregory had a great love of family and worked tirelessly to develop the history of our family, the Burr's, especially his grandfather, Judge Burr. If you every wanted to know something about the Burr's Gregory was the one you called on. He was also generous with his talents in genealogy, taking the time to research both my mother's family as well as my husband's.
Gregory spoke of his children and grandchildren often. He was so proud of his family. I know he will be missed by all.
On behalf of Ken, Ben, Elizabeth and myself I offer my sincerest condolences.
