Obituary of Margaret Jean Ryan

Margaret Jean (Giberson) Bush Ryan, age 95, of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, passed away at the home of her middle son, Charles Bruce Ryan of Herndon, Virginia, on Sunday, August 08, 2021. She was surrounded by her 3 beloved sons, and their spouses, at her time of passing.

Born February 26, 1926, in Castle Hill, Maine, daughter of the late Louise Moore (Witham) Giberson and Charles Bruce Giberson, and sister of Helen, Frank, Esther, Darrel, Pauline, and Elizabeth (Betty).  Widow of the late Willis G. Bush and of the late Thomas F. Ryan Jr.  Survivors include her three sons, Thomas Francis III (Nicola), Charles Bruce (Jesùs), and Sean Michael (Kathy).  Eight grandchildren round out her lineage:  Brittany (31), Taylor (29), Patrick (28), Katie (25), Matthew (21), Maxwell (21), Meghan (17), and Madison (15).

A proud veteran commissioned officer of the United States Air Force, she served as a flight nurse with the 14^th Aero Medical Transport Squadron, Brooks AFB, Texas, from which she transported polio patients and burn patients within the USA and worldwide.  As a private citizen, her most proud accomplishment was achieved in raising here three sons, of whom she influenced to proudly serve in the armed forces, too.  To all, she was a warm and caring nurturer, as well as an avid knitter, baker, and Mah-Jongg player—teaching many friends and family to play and enjoy the game at North Shore Country Club.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her military funeral honors ceremony to be conducted at 12 p.m. on Monday, August 23rd, 2021 at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Montford Point Road, Jacksonville, NC 28541.
