Dr. William "Bill" Miller (USN, Retired, Captain), age 61, of Herndon, VA died suddenly on April 27, 2010. He was born on August 24, 1948 in Ft. Wayne, IN to the late William I.E. and Beulah Horner Miller. Bill was a retired Captain of the United States Navy, retiring in 2005 after 35 years of service as a physician. He was an active member of the Gold Wing Road Rider Association and the American Legion Post # 184. Bill was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus and an avid numismatist. Even after his son earned his Eagle Scout Award Bill continued to be active volunteering for Boy Scout Troop # 159. Bill was the beloved husband of 25 years of Claire M. Pagliara-Miller, loving and devoted father of Jonathon W. Miller of Orlando, FL, Tiffany C. Miller of Herndon, VA and Jeffrey W. Miller of Herndon, VA, brother of LaVerne Shaffer of West Covina, CA, Joyce Shaffer of Johnstown, PA and Byron Miller of Johnstown, PA, proud grandfather of three grandchildren, Luke, Brooke and Ava. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 1 st from 11:30am to 1:30pm at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 1 st at 2pm at St. Veronica Catholic Church, 3640 Centreville Road, Chantilly, VA. A Mass of Christian Burial will also be celebrated on Wednesday, August 18 th at 8:45am at Fort Myer Old Post Chapel. Graveside services with Full Military Honors will immediately follow at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. (www.adamsgreen.com)
