Obituary of Margaret Dominguez

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Margaret Dominguez passed away on September 26, 2021 surrounded by her family, enveloped in love.  A native of New Mexico, Margaret was born to parents Melquiades and Felicita Gonzales and raised on her family’s cattle ranch near Clayton, New Mexico.  Margaret was an adventurer at heart.  She met the love of her life, Larry Dominguez, on a blind date in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Married for 59 years, they were inseparable, raising two daughters, traveling the world and relishing time with family, especially her beloved granddaughters, Molly and Maggie Gormley.   After raising her two daughters, Marie Therese Dominguez and Christa Gormley, Margaret embarked on a career in residential real estate.  Working diligently, she became a top realtor in Northern Virginia with Long & Foster, enjoying an outstanding 30-year career.  In addition to her career, she thoroughly enjoyed serving as a volunteer in the White House Social Office under President and Mrs. Clinton, where she had the opportunity to work official state dinners and special occasions like the nation’s Millennium Celebration.  Selfless in her service to her family and others, for many years Margaret worked to feed the homeless, assist the homebound and serve as a Eucharistic minister at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Annandale, Virginia.

A woman of deep faith, Margaret was devoted to her family.  Her strength of character, intellectual curiosity, fortitude, culinary prowess, legendary hospitality, graciousness and the ability to light up any room she entered, are characteristics her friends and family will always remember.  Margaret is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Lawrence Dominguez, daughters Marie Therese Dominguez and Christa Gormley and granddaughters Molly Gormley and Maggie Gormley, her brother George Gonzales and wife Jean and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Ashburn, Virginia on Thursday, October 7 at 10:30am.  Please note, the rosary will begin at 10:00am, prior to the funeral mass.  The burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.  Flowers can be sent to St. Theresa’s Catholic Church at 21371 St. Theresa Lane, Ashburn, Virginia 20147.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Margaret’s memory to The Carmelite Monastery, a convent located at 5158 Hawley Boulevard, San Diego, California 92116.
