Obituary of Regina Redman

Regina Elizabeth Redman -Lollobrigido was a kind, spirited, and loving mother, daughter, sister, friend, and coworker.  Regina died just 4 days shy of her 45^thbirthday, as a result of a senseless act of domestic violence by her husband. She died in the Reston Hospital ICU on September 26^th, 2021, after fighting to survive the brutal injuries suffered upon her 7 days prior.  On numerous occasions, Regina had previously sought support as a survivor of domestic violence during her marriage.  Her death has left a deep void in many hearts and she will be forever missed.

Regina was a resident of Loudoun County for most of her life and graduated from Park View High School in 1995.  She was married in 2000, and was gifted with the birth of her beloved son, Jack, in 2005. Regina began work as a Quality Control Agent for USInspect, and remained their loyal employee for the next 17 years.  Regina was always driven to achieve, even as a full-time working mom, and in 2019, Regina accomplished an associate degree in business from Northern Virginia Community College and received her business degree from Southern New Hampshire University.

Regina loved to be around children.  Regina had a fun loving, joyful, and playful way with the kids, and they loved to be around her as well.  Regina was deeply involved with her son’s schooling and always passionately volunteered to help at whatever school Jack was attending.  Regina’s  most recent and beloved employment was at Hovatter Elementary School as a substitute teacher.  It was this job that inspired her to pursue her BA in education.Her life was unfairly cut short before she was able to complete her degree.

Regina was a generous and giving soul who loved to participate in events that brought her community together.  She enjoyed running in many charity 5k’s and 10k’s alongside her son, Jack.  She and Jack were also enthusiastic Baltimore Ravens fans.  Regina also had a non-conformist streak and always loved to root for the “little guy.” She was most fulfilled by the joy of giving, and often performed random acts of kindness. The joy of watching her recipient’s reactions to her unexpected kindnesses caused her pure delight.

Regina was famously The Grateful Dead’s biggest fan.  She was the queen of Grateful Dead trivia and could name every album, site all sorts of band member facts, and sing every song.  She positively beamed when she and her brother, Eric, had the opportunity to take her son to his first Dead & Co show in the summer of 2018.  Attending shows was the highlight of her year, and she made every effort to attend a concert with her brother whenever the band was coming through town.

Regina loved her family most of all.  During a period of her grandfather’s (Pop-Pop’s) waning health, she felt it important to move her family to North Carolina in order to be nearer to him and her sister, Audrey (Patsy).  She was proud to be able to spend the last 2 years of her Pop-Pop’s life by his side, along with her sister, sitting on the porch while Pop-Pop drank his Miller Lite, just taking in his life stories and laughing. 

Regina is survived by her son, Jack Redman Lollobrigido; her loving mother, Mellanie Lynn Cromwell; her dear brother, Eric Redman; her dear sister, Audrey Patricia Redman; her adoring nieces, Rylynn Elizabeth Oswalt and Lillian Jo McDermott; her adoring nephews, Lawrence Sage Redman and Jameson Redman Moss; her Aunt and Uncle, Sandy and Chris Cromwell of Buffalo, NY; her cherished Aunt, Robin Ann Chase of NC; her Aunt and Uncle, Kelly and Jim Smart of WA; her Aunt and Uncle, Mabel Graham and Leo Smith of Baltimore, MD; Cousins, Austin Cromwell, Autumn Cromwell, Tori Cromwell, Adam Chase, Sara Smart, Daniel Smart, Dave Canham; as well as many other cousins around the country.

Regina is preceded in death by her father, Roy Clifford Redman; as well as her most cherished grandparents, SgtMaj L. R. Cromwell, and Catherine P. Cromwell.

Above all else, Regina was loved. Truly and deeply loved.  She was loved by her family, her friends, her students, and her co-workers. She will be remembered for her sunshine filled smile and spirit, for her kind nature, for her generosity, her love for life and music, and especially for her deep love of her family and special friends. We urge all who read Regina’s story to remember her, as we do, and to reflect on the circumstances that lead to her tragic death.  We can each play a role to prevent this from happening to anyone else.  We are hoping that through awareness, other families will be helped from experiencing this type of tragedy.

Memorial services for Regina will be held on Saturday October 23, 2021, with visitation from 11:00am-1:00pm and a funeral service at 1:00pm at the Adams-Green Funeral Home located at 721 Elden Street, Herndon, Virginia.  A vigil will be held the evening before the funeral service at the Heritage Farm Museum, 21668 Heritage Farm Ln., Sterling, Virginia from 6:00pm-7:00pm.  Anyone is welcome to attend the vigil and services.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  The family has requested, please wear something with the color purple to the vigil and services to show your support for Domestic Violence Awareness.
