Obituary of Ivor William McKay, Jr.

Ivor "Mac" McKay Jr.  of Herndon, VA passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021 at 5:08am.

Born on December 22, 1950, he was the son of the late Ivor William McKay Sr. and Margaret McKay. 

Mac was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a proud Army Veteran. He was born in El Paso, Texas. He comes from a military family, traveled the world and spoke many different languages. Mac served two tours in the Vietnam War as a medic in the Army, where he earned a purple heart. After the war, he settled back home in Texas, where he met his wife Hoang at the University of Texas. They celebrated their 43 year anniversary on October 3,2021. He had 6 children, 24 grandchildren with 1 more on the way, due February 2022 and 2 great grandchildren. He was a part of the Task Force Omega of Kentucky. He loved sports, especially football, baseball and basketball. He loved the Baylor Bears, the Dallas Cowboys and the Yankees. 

He is survived by his loving wife Hoang McKay, his four daughters Ann McKay, Julie McKay, Krystal McKay, Lisa McKay and his 2 sons Robert McKay and William McKay. 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Adams Green Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Adams Green Funeral Home with Col. Mark Johnstone officiating. Burial will follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery.
