William A. Fall

Colonel, U.S. Air Force (ret.)

April 11, 1933 – October 19, 2021

 

William A. Fall “Bill”, age 88, was the son of Paul and Dorothy ( Jennings ) Fall of Hiram, Ohio and brother of David J. Fall. He and his high school sweetheart, Louise (Ullman) Fall “Lou”, were married 67 years and blessed with five wonderful children, Robert (Helen), Linda Aldave (Jose), Bruce (Libby), Laura Fall, Charlie (Linda), 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. After graduating from Williams College, Col Fall served 22 years in the USAF, including tours at the Air University and Vietnam where he flew 186 combat reconnaissance missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. After his military service he taught junior and high school for eight years. For the next 27 years he conducted seminars and educational tours in the Washington area for students, teachers and Road Scholar groups. He was a natural leader and planner, with an outgoing personality and friends around the world. A lifelong learner, Bill earned master degrees from GWU and UVA and loved to read American history and attend performing arts. He coached his children in sports and created entertaining English grammar camps for each of his grandchildren. Conversations with Bill were invariably uplifting experiences in which others felt buoyed with an exchange of knowledge, insight, love and personal connection. He loved to travel and camped with Lou in every state except Hawaii and Alaska . He loved his Louie. At a future date he and Lou will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery .
