Jonathan Ian Peiken

January 8,1972 - October 15, 2021

Jonathan "Jon" Ian Peiken was a loving, caring father, husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. On Friday, October 15, 2021, Jon, who was only 49, left this world too soon with his loved ones by his bedside at the University of Pennsylvania hospital.

In true Jon fashion, he was a warrior in battling non-Hodgkin lymphoma remaining positive about his prognosis and convincing everyone he would return to his family in Virginia. Like so much of his life, Jon showed incredible strength these past few months not complaining when he faced obstacles, continuing to give his all at work, and frequently asking his family, colleagues, and friends what he could do for them. During this past year, Jon wanted his family to live their lives to the fullest and thrive, while he battled this disease in Philadelphia under the watchful eye of his sister and brother-in-law.

Jon was born on January 8, 1972 in North Miami Beach to Joe and Leslie (Tabb), Jon grew up in his family home creating many fond memories with swims in the lake, outings on the family catamaran, and many parties in his family’s backyard celebrating birthdays, weddings and holidays with family and friends.

After graduating from North Miami Beach Senior High, Jon attended the University of Michigan, and received his B.A. in History. He received his MBA from the University of Florida, where he met his wife, Andria.

They permanently relocated to the DC area in 2002, and soon after Jon started his career in human resources with Accenture, and in 2005 began his lustrous career with the Transportation Security Administration in Human Capital, and then moved to the Office of Intelligence where he most recently served as a Human Capital Branch Manager.

Jon enjoyed running, hiking, going to concerts and traveling. He loved music, and he was often found singing and dancing to Billy Joel, Andy Grammar, or Jared & the Mill. His pride and joy were his two children. He would volunteer at their elementary school; he served on the board for the Stone Ridge Shark swim team serving as the team rep, a stroke and turn judge, and starter for many of the events – all in support of his kids.

He is survived by his parents (Joe and Leslie), Andria, his two beautiful children (Hailey and Noah), his sister (Amy), his brother-in-law (Jim), his nephew (Sam) and niece (Zoe). In addition, Jon left behind aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends who also loved him dearly.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM with a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St, Herndon, VA 20170.

We are creating a Tribute video montage for Jon, and we would like to ask you to take a minute to record a video about your favorite Jon memory, so we can memorialize Jon for Hailey and Noah, and their children.

Following the memorial service, there will be a gathering at our friends’ home from 1 pm to 3 pm (see address below). Please bring your best stories about Jon and any fond memories of him that you would want to share, since Jon loved telling stories over food and drink with family and friends.
