Christopher Alan Smith, beloved fiancé of Jessica Dodson, father of Nealey, brother of Tim, Cory and Jeremy Smith, uncle to many nieces and nephews, died on November 8, 2021, at home in Reston, VA after a courageous battle against Stage IV colorectal cancer.
Chris was born in Silver Spring, MD, on June 20, 1975, nine minutes before his twin Tim. Born to his late parents Helen and Tom Smith, an extraordinary gift for the family to welcome twins. Chris had big blonde curls and even bigger dimples. He was happiest playing outside, especially riding bikes and skateboards. Chris and Tim were inseparable throughout childhood and remain lifelong best friends.
In 1991, Chris’ next chapter began in Northern Virginia. He discovered his incredible talent and love for food and the culinary arts, working tirelessly over many years to become a seasoned, self-taught chef. He devoted long hours and hard work to the restaurants he worked in. He made many longtime and valued friendships that started in those kitchens and dining rooms.
Since 2004, Chris and Jessica built a beautiful life and home together with their daughter Nealey. Chris was always happiest with Jessica and Nealey - his girls are who he centered his life around. He loved music, gardening, animals, long walks, his favorite beaches and above all, his home and family.
A Celebration of Life for Chris will be held on Saturday, 11/20/21, 11am-2pm ET at PassionFish Reston (11960 Democracy Drive Reston, VA 20190 - the Orange garage is the closest to the venue). Please join us in celebrating Chris's love, laughter and memories.
*Please note due to Covid-19, we ask those who are not vaccinated to keep masks on at ALL times. If you are feeling any symptoms, we ask you to defer from the event.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask donations to the American Cancer Society be made in Chris’s name. A Go Fund Me Memorial Fund has also been made for the family.
