Obituary of Howard G. Hilton
Howard G. Hilton, born on July 24, 1927, the son of the late John Henry Hilton and the late Minnie Lee Curtis Hilton, died peacefully in his home in Potomac Falls, Virginia, on November 11, 2021, with his loving wife, Thelma, at his side. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Frances Hallman Hilton, his siblings, Leola B. Hilton Hines, Thomas Jefferson Hilton, Josie Hilton Hines. He is survived by his three children, Mark Hilton, Gary Hilton, and Lila Fitzgerald and three stepchildren, Reuben Sturdivant, Barbara Cushman, and William Sturdivant, as well as 11 grandchildren and stepchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Howard received a Bachelor’s degree from University of Mississippi and Master’s degrees from University of Michigan and University of Virginia. He had a distinguished career in the U.S. Public Health Service and served in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.
During his retirement, Howard and Thelma enjoyed traveling around the world.
Internment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
