Alka Kalidas Malpani was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She passed away on December 23, 2021at the age of 74 in Leesburg, Virginia. She was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her values of strength, courage, and trust.
Alka was born in Karad, Maharashtra, India to Pannalal and Bhagirathibai Lahoti. She went to high school at Kanya School and graduated in 1963. She furthered her education at Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey (SNDT) College in Mumbai, India. She moved to America in 1970 with her husband and daughter. She was a hardworking and dependable person. Through her life she worked as an office manager, phlebotomist, sales associate, medical biller, and receptionist.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Alka. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities. Her calm and loving personality was contagious to everyone she met. Alka exuded her love to all through her delicious cooking which warmed everyone’s hearts. The most important life lesson she taught us through her own actions is that you can persevere through any challenge.
Alka is preceded in death by her beloved husband Kalidas D. Malpani. She is survived by her son Nandan Malpani; her daughters: Tejaswini Jajoo, Roopa Duggal, and Deepa Shah; their spouses: Jaikishan Jajoo, Vinit Duggal, and Manish Shah; and her grandchildren Priya Jajoo, Sridhar Jajoo, Divya Jajoo, Naya Duggal, Ishaan Shah, Sage Duggal, Krishna Shah, and Septarsi Duggal.
A Funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hindu Heritage Summer Camp (www.omhhsc.org) or the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) on her behalf.
