Obituary of James Joseph Frank

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

James J. Frank of Ashburn, VA passed away on December 27, 2021, at the age of 71.

Originally from Woodstown, NJ he is the son of the late James & Edith Frank. Jim graduated from Woodstown High School in 1969.

Married in 1976 to Laurie Price also from Woodstown, the family which included a son and a daughter moved to Northern Virginia in 1986 where Jim worked as a Project Manager for several area home builders in the northern Virginia area, most recently Van Metre Homes. Jim took pride in his part of building homes for families throughout the northern VA area.

Jim had a passion for music and over the years assembled a wide collection of various music genres including rock and roll, blues, bluegrass, classical, folk & Jazz spanning many decades and generations. Some of his favorite memories were gathering with friends to listen and sing to the latest albums. One of his fondest memories is attending the Woodstock music festival in 1969.

Growing up in Woodstown held a special place in Jim’s heart. He loved attending the annual Woodstown-Salem Thanksgiving game and running into old friends at the hotel where he was referred to by some as “Hollywood” due to his ever-present sunglasses. He often spoke of various memories of childhood and friends he met attending WHS. He especially enjoyed dancing at the canteens held at the various area High Schools and Riverview Beach Park.

Jim was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. No one in his immediate family dared root for another team. He was thrilled when he was finally able to experience their Super Bowl LII win. His children are avid Philadelphia Eagles fans to this day.

Jim also enjoyed following boxing and gathering with friends to watch the fights especially during the heyday of Roberto Duran, Muhammed Ali & Joe Frazier. It was a highlight for him when he ran into Joe Frazier in the lobby of a Philadelphia hotel.

Jim is survived by his wife Laurie, daughter Astra Starks (husband Kelly), stepson Richard Lasker III (wife Jaime), 3 grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews. He was loved and will be missed.

Burial services and a Celebration of Life will be held at a future date in Woodstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Autism Science Foundation, Foster Care to Success or the First Nations Development Institute.
