Please share a memory of Selma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Selma Carvajal of Reston, VA passed away on January 5th 2021 surrounded by family. She was 93 years old. Selma was born on April 8th 1928 in Latacunga, Ecuador. After growing up in Ecuador, she came to the United States in her 20’s to visit family. She ended up staying in the US after meeting her beloved husband Mario, a fellow Ecuadorian. The two were married for over 65 years and had 6 children together.  After 15 years of living in the United States, Selma and Mario moved back to Ecuador to continue raising their 5 children. In Ecuador, their 6th child was born. Selma enjoyed the company of family and friends, had an avid social life, and developed a love for cooking, painting and other hand crafts. As their children grew up and moved back to the United States, Selma and Mario followed them in 2001 after nearly 40 years in Ecuador. Back in the United States, Selma took particular joy in spending time with her 10 grandchildren, and eventually 4 great-grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as “Mamu”

Selma was loved by many, family and friends alike for her generous and warm spirit. She enjoyed entertaining friends, cooking delicious meals and treats for her family, and creating varied works of art such as paintings and knitted blankets.

Selma is survived by her beloved husband Mario, her 6 children, 10 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
