Obituary of Andrew Milton Watts
Andrew Milton Watts passed away on January 6, 2022, at the age of 66 in Fairfax, Virginia.
Andrew's story began on March 23, 1955, in Denver, Colorado. The third child in a family of four boys, sons of Lawrence M. Watts and Dorothy L. Watts. He graduated from Herndon High School in Herndon, Virginia in 1973. While in High School he was named "All State" in football.
After High School graduation he pursued his passion playing Rugby for various teams including "The Blue Gooses" in Breckenridge, Colorado and later for Virginia Tech University. Andrew graduated from Virginia Tech in 1978.
Andrew joined the US Army after college, where he served as a communications intercept specialist in the Serbo- Croatian language. While in the Army he served with the 3rd Armored Division and later the 10th Special Forces.
Andrew worked for National Public Radio in Washington DC as an IT Specialist.
He was a lifelong student of history, archeology, culture and linguistics. Andrew especially enjoyed his travels in Russia, continental Europe, the British Isles and Iceland. Andrew was conversant in German, Serbo-Croation, and Russian.
Andrew leaves behind his three brothers, Greg, Richard, and John along with their wives and families. Both his parents proceeded him in death.
