The Vasa Order of America, Drott Lodge #168 recognizes the many contributions of Past Chairman, Henry Nelson, and we prepare to drape our charter in his honor. As a 76-year member of Vasa Order of America, he was one of our Lodge’s longest supporters, served as Chairman for two terms, and we are forever grateful for his service. In truth and Unity - the members and your friends of Drott Lodge #168

Thank you Julie for your tribute to my Dad. If is wasn’t for the Swedish Lodge, my parents would have never met and enjoyed 68 years of marriage. The Nelson family has many wonderful memories going to the Swedish Lodge during Christmas and participating in Santa Lucia traditions. Dad had a wonderful, happy, good quality of life, until the end. Thank you for honoring my Dad. Sincerely, Anita Nelson Fairchild

Henry and I became pen pals when he was almost ninety. And the tools were not paper and pen, it was the computer. That tells me quite a lot of his approach to his whole life. Always curious, always try to learn and find out new things!
I only met Henry twice, when he visited Sweden together with Alva, who was the younger sister to my own mother. My own family were deeply impressed of his frankness, his humor, his curiosity and his respect, and these are feelings who still are very much alive now in our family, about thirty years later.
Henry and I opened to our contact when my daddy passed away in 2013. Our emails contented small comments on here and now, family, activities, politics, health and covid-19 (of course!), etc. and was always permeated with the wonder of living this life on this earth.
To me, Henry served as a great model for a human being, young in his soul and spirit despite his age.
I’m happy that I got this opportunity to get in touch with Henry, and I’m deeply grateful for our valuable contact.
It is empty without him but I think that he in his own way has fulfilled the purpose of his life.
Rest in peace, Henry.
Anders Eklann, Sweden.

We are so sorry for your loss. Mr. Nelson was such a welcoming person every time we ran into him. We met him through Dave and Gina. We would see him mostly when he attended Kyle and Austin’s baseball and football games. We are glad we got to be a small part of his life. Rest In Peace Mr. Nelson.

My deepest sympathy at this sad time for you all. I remember meeting him twice, when I was a college student at Tech. He graciously welcomed me into his home when I visited with Barbara. I love that he was so active with his children, church, and community. People like Henry truly leave this world a better place.
