I wanted to add that Doug was such a good friend and the best neighbor anyone could ask for; for the almost five years I lived next to Doug and Kathleen, I felt more like they were family than neighbors. When I first moved in as a widow, Doug replaced my HVAC filter several times for me, showing me how it was done. He also loved my dog and she loved him! When their door was open, she would run right in directly to the sofa and jump up, cuddling next to Doug to watch tv with him. Doug taught me that you don’t have to be a child to enjoy a bubble machine on the balcony! Many neighbors ended up buying the same machine to generate hundreds of bubbles blowing from the upper balconies into the wind. It was glorious! When I found out that Doug was a night owl like I was, it always felt safer, knowing someone else was awake at 1:00 in the morning, as I was. Finally, he was, as Kathleen said, one of the nicest guys I have ever known, and the world is lessened by his death. Doug, we will miss you terribly!
