Obituary of John Andrew Schulkins
John Andrew Schulkins III, 69 of Sterling, Virginia went to his eternal home on February 6, 2022 after a brief illness. Born September 1, 1952 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to John Andrew Schulkins II and Shirley Jeanne Priestley, John was the oldest of 6.
During his earlier years, John had 4 children with his first wife. He avidly raced stock cars, flew airplanes, fished, and was involved with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He met his late wife, Lynelle Christensen, at a church function. After an extended courtship, they married in 1995. John was gifted with a beautiful voice. He shared his talent to sing with the Mormon Choir of Washington DC for several years. Lynelle introduced him to his favorite hobby, singing barbershop. He was actively involved in several quartets and choruses including The Fairfax Jubilaires and the Old Dominion Chorus.
John survived by his loving children, John IV (Ivette) of Nampa, ID, Jessica (Joshua) Gottshalk of Lexington Park, MD, Eric of De Kalb, TX, Rebecca (McLean) Barnett of Iowa Colony, TX. His grandchildren Victoria (Julianna) Leguria, Timothy, John V (Amber), Brianna (Nicholas) Board, Joseph, Luke, Madeline Barnett, and Logan Barnett and great grandchildren Henry and Ellie Board. His surviving siblings are Shirley Walsh, Craig Schulkins, Robert Schulkins, and Terry Schulkins.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lynelle Christensen Schulkins, father, John Andrew Schulkins II, Mother, Shirley Jeanne Priestley Schulkins, and brother, David Schulkins.
Funeral service for John will be held February 16, 2022 at 22066 Circle Drive Sterling, Virginia 20164 at 11am. Friends may call from 10- 10:45am.
A graveside service will be held the following day at 12pm, February 17, 2022 at Franklinville Cemetery in Spruce Creek, Pennsylvania.
