i first met vic over 30 years ago when i joined the sandbagger group at twin lakes he was always the gentleman and i particularly recall his sense of humor. don't know if vic was into women's lib but he was solely responsible for adding a woman to the sandbagger group, my late wife gwen. thru a set of odd circumstances gwen filled in as a sub one week. next week vic put her into the regular schedule. despite her protests vic insisted she was now a member. she totally enjoyed playing many years of golf with the sandbaggers after that. although he never said, i'm sure he received some flack over that. thank you for being you old friend. rip.

Vic was truly one of the Good Guys. He loved to play golf, and for several years he ran the Sandbaggers all by himself. I remember you would show up to play at Twin Lakes and he would give you an envelope with your last week's winnings. Then he would ask if you intended to play next week
Vic was also a pretty good computer techie. I have called him several times with a question about how to do something on my computer and he would always give me an answer that worked.
So, rest in peace Vic -- we all miss you.

Vic was one of a kind. I cannot begin to understand how many hours he spent keeping the league going and yet had time for some humor when he dealt with us grumpy old guys. I do recall reporting in to him in the snack bar at a table near the window and getting my winnings in an envelope --- to the nearest quarter. And telling him that I would or wouldn’t be playing the following week. Then he smiled and said “thanks”.
Because he always teed off after everyone, I never played a Sandbaggers round with him but I did play many, many rounds with him in the Tuesday Golf Association. A very self -deprecating manner and a ton of great stories. Humor was a part of every game and I couldn’t possibly remember a tenth of it. I just enjoyed it all.
When Bill Amos set the league up to be run on computers, Vic was patient enough to sit beside me at my house and teach me the system. He always responded to my many calls for help when I had a stupid question or a problem doing set ups. Even then, he found opportunities to inject a bit of humor. Perhaps he did so he wouldn’t lose his sanity !
Through the thick and thin of it all, (e.g., he remarried his ex-wife when she no longer had health insurance, his medical problems, and the bad falls he took when he tried to shovel snow at home), he remained quite steady. Finally, Vic just had to quit everything and take care of his wife even though he had some serious health problems of his own. Despite these travails, Victor never told anyone and we would never know so we asked and he always minimized his miseries.
Quite the character, Vic was THE guy who held it all together for hundreds of guys and one lady to enjoy a round of golf while never seeking notoriety or thanks. He set the example as someone we should all emulate. Our world could use a few million like him.

This was the last time Vic played with the Sandbaggers or the Tuesday group, 13 July 2017 at Reston Golf Course. He told me it was just too much for him to play anymore.

It is such a blessing to have known your Father, Vic. He is a remarkable man in his work, as a parent, as a husband and as a friend—probably golf, too, but did not know him as a golfer! He has a gentle soul and his smile and laugh were infectious. May God continue to bless his loving soul as he rests in peace and rises in glory with forever light perpetual shining upon him. You three daughters are loved and honored to be his legacy. Vic is a good man and a good friend. We plan to celebrate his life with you on the 27th. ❤️
