Obituary of Rebekka Elizabeth Dailey

Please share a memory of Rebekka to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Rebekka Elisabeth Dailey was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter. She left this world on Friday, February 25th at age 56.

She was born in Biel, Switzerland to Hans and Hermine Gafner on October 21, 1965. After graduating from high school, Rebekka chased her dreams to serve the Lord in Israel where she met her husband, Tim Dailey. Together, they lived in Israel, Switzerland, Wisconsin, Georgia, and finally Reston.

Rebekka was a lifelong artist, from designing watch faces at Swatch to sewing matching outfits for herself and her family. She taught her children to value other cultures and spoke four languages - German, French, English, and Hebrew. She loved cooking and experimenting with new ingredients. She volunteered at Tall Oaks Assisted living with her children. She loved the outdoors, and taught her children all about the local flora and birds, just as her mother taught her. She loved taking her family on long hikes, and especially loved the walking trails of Reston, where she would frequently be found near a playground, listening to the sounds of children which brought her so much joy. She leaves behind 5 children of her own: Mahalia & Dan Yowell, Matthias & Grace Dailey, Jonathan Dailey, Tabitha Dailey, and Timothy Dailey, as well as two grand daughters, Emily and Elina.

Rebekka’s faith in Jesus was precious to her, and it gave her grace and strength during her four year battle with skin cancer. We will treasure everything we learned from her, her strength, unique way of thinking, and sense of humor.

A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, March 7th 1:00 in the afternoon, at Chestnut Grove Cemetery.
