LARRY THOMAS EWALT

Larry Ewalt was born in Corvallis, Oregon on August 21, 1936. His parents were Harold P. Ewalt and Margaret Hermann Ewalt. Educated in Corvallis public schools, he attended Oregon State University in Corvallis and then transferred to the University of Oregon (Eugene) where he earned his BA in Broadcasting in 1959. He served in the US Army as an Intelligence Specialist for three years and then attended The University of Washington (Seattle) in the Masters Program in Film and Television.
In 1964 he moved to Washington, D.C. to work for the Television Service of the United States Information Agency (now the Voice of America). He was a Production Assistant, Associate Producer and TV Program Officer until his retirement in 2003.
Survivors include his wife of 50+ years, Barbara S. Ewalt of Reston; son David M. Ewalt and daughter-in-law Kara McGuinness-Hickey of Brooklyn, NY; Daughter Elissa E. Ghosh, son-in-law Indrajit Ghosh, and grandchildren Sophia B. Ghosh and Siddharth Ghosh of Arlington, VA. Also, brother Robert H. Ewalt of Lubbock, TX, and sisters Eleanor Ewalt of Corvallis and Jeanne Danielson of Aloha , OR and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his family, he loved good books, great movies, (particularly old, black and white ones) old radio shows, WWII history, collecting walking sticks and the ocean.
