For many years, while I was a pastor at McLean Bible Church, 1982-2016, I had the joy of befriending, observing and working directly with Wayne Thompson. Because Wayne had an eternal and biblical perspective, he was focused upon serving others, sharing the gospel, and reflecting the light and love of Jesus Christ.
In my pastoral role, I frequently officiated funeral services for which, in many cases, Wayne was the funeral director! In such serious situations we appreciated and enjoyed working together to minister to grieving families. Also, when I visited residents at the Sunrise Senior Living facility in McLean, quite often I was able to see Wayne Thompson serving there as a volunteer.
Although Wayne and I have not seen each other for several years, already I look forward to seeing him in heaven! It will be a grand reunion!
Jesus told His followers,
"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die..." (John 11:25-26)
Meanwhile, in these sad days passed and, in those days yet to come, may God grant His grace, peace and mercy to those of Wayne's family and friends who, in simple childlike faith, have committed the wellbeing of their souls to Jesus Christ.
