I got to know Tandy best as a young man. Before that he was just another cousin that we saw once or twice a year when his parents, Buck & Eris with boys in tow, made their pilgrimage to the old home place in Advance. This year that I recall so vividly was the time he made the trip alone as a young adult. Looking back, it must have been between college and a tour of duty. I didn’t grasp then the seriousness of what might lie ahead for him. What I do recall is that he was good natured, full of fun and a total joy to be around. Although I completely lost touch with him (I’m amazed you found my email in his contacts) if anyone asked, he was always my favorite cousin.
