A life well lived.
My Uncle Dick was truly special and one of the finest gentlemen I’ve ever known. Honorable to the core, honest & quiet yet quite sharp-witted and always, always courteous and kind with people and animals alike.
A strong, respectful leader and a sailor’s sailor I am sure although I wasn’t around when he sailed his boat underwater,
Years later at a family dinner I will always remember when he told me he didn’t eat fish. I was rather surprised and naively asked why he didn’t like fish or was it merely certain ones, to which he replied firmly: “ I like fish of all types just fine - outside of my boat, just not in it nor on my plate”.
He had only one exception- Sardines! Of all the meals we shared over the years those were the fewest but most memorable shared treats with you. I’ll never again be able to eat sardines or raspberries without smiling up to the heavens and thinking of you playing in the band, behind the highest harp.
Rest In Peace Uncle Dick. Big hugs, Katey
