At one Legion of Mary meeting, no one showed up but me. I was ready to start the Rosary alone when I saw Nick coming out of the church and heading to the adoration chapel. Though I did not know him, I approached and asked if he would join me say the rosary which he gladly accepted. Turned out he was a former Legion of Mary member. He loved our Blessed Mother and despite his illness, was ready to serve her Son. From then on, he attended the Legion meeting whenever possible and gladly accepted the task of leading the rosary at church. Brother, we will miss you! May our Blessed Mother take your hand and lead you to our Lord.

Uncle Nick came into our family when I was twelve years old living on the island for the summer. I knew he was up against a lot with those Egbert brothers razing him constantly.
