Obituary of Doreen Lea Rusnak

It is with incredible sadness that we share the passing of Doreen Lea Rusnak (1962-2022) at Reston Hospital Center, June 20, 2022 at 1:30AM. Doreen had the rare ALK variant of lung cancer and after a year of travel and fun with her family, succumbed to this Stage 4 diagnosis.

A lifelong Baltimorean, Doreen moved to Ashburn, VA in 2006 to be near her niece. Doreen enjoyed nature, feeding birds and squirrels, and giving back to her new community.  Whether supporting local animal rescue groups, teaching religious education and ESL at her church, or making deliveries for the local food pantry, you’d always find Doreen doing good! 

She’s survived by her sister, Cordy Galligan (Rusnak) and beloved niece, Riley Galligan. Services will be held July 8th 10:00 AM at Christ the Redeemer Roman Catholic Church in Sterling, VA.
