Rod and I met in the late 70's/early 80's while we were serving in Germany and we later served together in Korea. During this time, we enjoyed a close friendship and maintained contact over the years beyond our military service. I'm deeply sadden to hear of this tremendous loss but I'm thankful for the memorable times that we shared together. My deepest sympathy to Jessica and the family. Colonel (Ret) Al Leonard

What a great loss - a fabulous person, an extremely effective manager, and a superb leader. I hired Rodney into ServiceMaster in the late 1990s to operate our services at Total Health Care in Baltimore, Maryland. A demanding inner-city HMO. He effectively started up all services in an impressive manor, leading his staff with wit, understanding, and a passion for individual improvement and operational excellence. At that time, it was obvious he would have a successful career in health care services if he so desired. I talked to him several months ago with plans for getting together. My sympathies to you and your family on Rodney's passing.

Our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Mack family. Rodney was a nice person, just a gentle and decent man. He always appeared polite, deep thinking and displayed an infectious smile. We all grew up together in Orangeburg, South Carolina. I believe if you asked any Wilkinson or SCState graduate to describe Rodney, they would all say, “What a great guy!” He will be sorely missed here on earth, but his work is done here. RIH

It is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed. Rod's legacy of helping others through his leadership and influence at Aramark will endure for a very long time and within many of us. He was more than a leader...he was a great friend. I will miss him very much. As I said during his funeral, "I will miss his friendship the most, followed by his smile and his laugh."

I too worked with Rod for many years. I second everything that Sharon Campbell shared. Rod beamed with pride and joy as he quietly shared about his family and the life you all built together. I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

I am fortunate to have served with Rod since 2001 at Aramark as he has been both my District Manager and VP. Rod loved sharing stories and within those stories, there was always a tidbit of wisdom for life or business you could glean if not a full, solid message. I recall him beaming with pride as he shared the story of he and his son building the patio in his back yard, his daughter's achievements in college, the joy of his garden and homelife, or tales of growing up in SC. Rod touched many lives and he will not be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with all his family, friends and I hope his love for you all and your memories will provide a measure of comfort today and always. Rest in peace, Rod; your race has been run and you ran it well. Sharon Campbell Aramark Director of Facilities Services (retired)

Rod and I shared a lot of stories and time together through the years. We shared similar careers- being US Army Engineer Officers, then peer Facility managers, DMs and other roles within Aramark. Rod always had a lesson to teach or a story to tell. I enjoyed hearing about his motor cycle rides and his working in his garden! Prayers to his wife and children during this time of loss and sorrow! “Rest well my friend” Keith
