Christine Kambua Munyasia of Dulles, Virginia passed away on September 24, 2022 in Reston, Virginia. She was born in Kenya, a place that she loved and always called home. She earned her degree from Kenya Utali College and she worked until her retirement as a Membership Area Manager for Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital, representing Associations 70, 80, and 90. Prior to working for the Council, Christine had a long history with Association 80 that included parent, troop leader, other volunteer roles at the Service Unit level, Association Chair, day camp director, Field Director, and Membership Specialist.
Prior to working for Girl Scouts she was a stay at home mom and also worked in the hospitality industry during which she traveled throughout East Africa. She was also very involved in her local community which included several leadership roles.
Christine was always a light and many called her a sweet, funny and caring woman. She loved and doted on her family and enjoyed reading, cooking, dancing, listening to music and traveling. She was also known for her incredible hosting skills. Some of her favorite memories were with her family and making memories with them. She always knew the right thing to say or do to make you smile or to comfort you. She was dedicated to her faith and was strong in her belief in God.
She is fondly remembered and survived by her husband, Frank Onyango and daughter Marymagdaline Onyango as well as several extended family members. She is predeceased by her parents and brother. She will be deeply missed and was loved so much.
