Fernando Alfonso Infante

May 1944 – September 2022

It is with profound sadness that the family of Fernando Alfonso Infante announce his peaceful passing, surrounded by his loved ones, on Thursday, September 29th at the age of 78 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Hilda; children: Carlos and Luis (Kristina); grandchildren: Gabriella, Cullen, Luke, Cara, Ariel, and Gracie; sister, Maria Amelia Rodriguez and various extend family.

Fernando was proceeded in death by his parents Herminio and Trinidad and brothers: Eugenio and Edwardo. In 1975 his first born, son Luis Alfonso Infante I, unexpectedly and devastatingly lost his life after battling a severe virus.

As a child growing up in Bogota, Colombia, Fernando was a sweet and happy boy that enjoyed playing marbles with a smile on his face. At the age of 21 he took a leap of faith and moved to the United States with the help of his sister.  He found his first job in the U.S. at a French restaurant.  On a blind date with friends, Fernando met his beautiful wife Hilda. In 1976, they found a forever home to raise a family and make endless memories. Nothing made him happier than being able to provide for his family. He and his loving wife and family enjoyed family vacations to Columbia, Argentina, and Virginia Beach, making many wonderful memories together. He loved and encouraged his son’s great love for muscle cars and they all enjoyed working on them together. He loved that his home was always bustling with family, friends and wonderful neighbor’s that eventually became “family”. Later in his life, those family and friends were joined by his six amazing grandchildren and that gave him even greater joy. He just had a certain way about him that made everyone feel warm and cared for in his presence.

Fernando was a savvy businessman and ran a highly successful auto repair business in Fairfax, VA, then later in Chantilly, VA. Foreign Auto Services has been wildly successful for 44 years, due to his uncompromising work ethic. Up to his final days, he took great pride in watching his sons grow up to run the family business with him. His return clientele and long-time staff are a testament to his character. Fernando’s honesty, integrity and ability to make any stranger feel like a forever friend will be remembered by many.

Fernando leaves behind the love of this life, Hilda; his beloved son’s and their families, his most cherished sister, various extended family and lifelong friends that will forever honor his memory.
