Obituary of Bernice H. Kilday
Bernice H. Kilday passed away on October 1st, 2022 in Ashburn, Virginia. Bunny, as she was known, was born June 7th 1936 in Hopewell, Virginia. Bunny spent her early years in Hopewell, until she went to Barry College in Miami, Florida, where she obtained a BA in Speech and Drama. After graduation, Bunny taught High School English in Hopewell, and Richmond, Virginia. In 1963, she met Barry Kilday, a captain in the US Army, and they were married the following year. Bunny lived in Hopewell while Barry served in Vietnam, and she then began the life of an Army bride. She lived in Germany, in Colorado and several other states. After Barry's retirement, Bunny returned to Virginia, taught English for several years in Herndon, Virginia. When she retired from teaching, she moved to the golf course community of Fawn Lake, Spotsylvania county, prior to settling in Ashburn. Bunny was predeceased by two children, Kevin and Keith Kilday. She is survived by a daughter, Karen Sherwood, a son Brian Kilday, a sister, Martha Hartz, three grandsons and her husband. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, October 8th at 10:30 AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 21370 St Theresa Ln, Ashburn, VA 20147. Visitation is from 5 to 8 PM on Friday, October 7th at the Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St., Herndon, VA, 20170. Friends are invited to view and sign the family guestbook at www.adamsgreen.com
