Obituary of Joan Ruthanna Berger
Joan R. Berger, 88, of Sterling, Virginia passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 27, 2022.
Joan was born in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania and a daughter of William and Gertrude Hepler, later adopted by Leo Bernhardt and Emma Hepler. She grew up in the Coal Town of Shamokin’ PA, where she met her late husband Atwood Berger.
Proceeded in death by her husband, Atwood Berger and her daughter Debra Knisley. She is survived by her two children; daughter, Dona Griffith and husband Chris and son, Robert Berger and wife Lisa. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Joan and her late husband Atwood were Baptized July 20, 1975 at Sterling Park Christian Church, where she remained a faithful Christian for her entire life, and made a family out of her church group. Joan would always seem to look at the brighter side of things in life and never seemed to let things bother her. She was a loving, caring woman who always wanted the best for everyone. In addition to being an avid churchgoer, she loved attending bible studies, enjoyed playing cards with friends, spending time with family and she loved her chocolate ice cream. She was a loving mother, grandma and great grandma. She is now in the best place in world with her past family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November, 4, 2022 T 10:00 a.m. at Sterling Park Christian Church, 800 E Staunton Ave, Sterling, VA 20164.
The Church service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Sterling Park Christian Church, 800 E Staunton Ave, Sterling, VA 20164, Sterling, VA, with Minister, John D. McArthur, Jr. Burial will follow the service at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Herndon, VA.
