Obituary of Nancy Marie Cherry

Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our dear mother, Nancy Cherry, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 6th, 2022 at her residence in Sterling, VA.

Nancy was born to the late Charles Spencer Freeman and Mary Jane Freeman in Glen Ridge, New Jersey.  She married her husband, Harold Randolph "Randy" Cherry, in 1976, who preceded her in death in May of 2010.

She is survived by her children, Jason Cherry and his wife Amanda of Aldie, VA, and Michelle McConchie and her husband Matthew of Brambleton, VA.

She was blessed with 5 grandchildren: Alexandra, Hannah, Calvin, Connor and Natalie who were her absolute world.

She is also survived by her sister Patty Carlson, and her brother Walt Freeman and his wife Cheryll.

Mom believed strongly that family always came first.  No matter what.  She was a stay-at-home mother who never faltered in giving her time and love to her children and extending that passion to her grandchildren.  Whether it was decorating or reading holiday stories to her grandkids for Christmas, spectating at a sporting event while wearing her "My Favorite Athletes Call Me Namaw" t-shirt, or soaking in the sun at the beach, being anywhere with her family was truly her happy place.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 29th, 2 pm, at Floris United Methodist Church in Herndon, VA.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Association.  Both of which are furthering research for cures that would have meant a lot to her.
