Lee Baxter Schroeder

On 20 November 2022, Lee B. Schroeder passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Reston, Virginia and is now reunited with his beloved wife, Michelle. Lee was born in the State of Maine to Col. John Kenneth Schroeder II and Faith Irene Davis. Lee proudly served in the United States Armed Forces for 4 years and later served in the United States Army Reserve for 2 years, until honorably discharged in 1979. While stationed in South Korea, Lee met the love of his life - Chong Pun (“Michelle”) Kwon. They later married and had a daughter, Mile Kwon who they raised and supported with enduring love. For 20 years, Lee worked for the Fairfax County government until he finally retired in 2006.

Upon retirement, Lee dedicated his time to his two loves in life - fishing and caring for his granddaughters, Grace and Mia Corrigan. Lee spent his days caring for his family with his loving wife Michelle. To know Lee was to love him for his kind heart, generosity, and sense of humor. Lee was loved and revered by so many for his countless jokes, stories, and knowledge of fishing, trees, and wildlife. An avid aborist, Lee’s vast knowledge of trees and plants was so impressive, he was called upon frequently by friends and family to help select and care for them over the years. He fished many lakes, rivers, and streams throughout his lifetime and competed in bass tournaments with his dear friends and fishing buddies.

Lee is survived by his mother, Faith Hatter, his devoted daughter, Mile Kwon Corrigan, and his loving grandchildren: granddaughter Grace Kwon Corrigan of Ashburn, Virginia, and granddaughter Mia Kwon Corrigan of Ashburn, Virginia, his brothers, John K. Schroeder III of Alfred, Maine, Maurice Schroeder of Miami, Florida, James Schroeder of Clarion, Pennsylvania, his sisters, Priscilla Hawkins of Garden City, Utah, Pamela Breeden of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Lynne Schroeder of Hudson, Florida, Jacqueline (“Jackie”) Whitney of Lucinda, Pennsylvania and an extensive list of extended family, loved ones, and friends. Lee was preceded in death by his father, John Kenneth Schroeder II of Tylersburg Pennsylvania, and his brother, Mark R. Schroeder of Plano, Texas.

Lee requested a Celebration of Life to honor his memory to be held on December 9th, the date of his beloved wife Michelle’s birthday who predeceased him in 2020.  Lee’s remains were cremated per his wishes.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant a tree in his memory or give a charitable donation to Cast for Kids (with special needs) in remembrance of his lifelong love and passion for bass fishing.
